A popular technique for creating a thick and cozy blanket is by using a granny square pattern as its foundation. To achieve this, four stitches are added on one side of the square with each row. The corners are typically made up of one, two, or three loops. In our tutorial, we’ll be using a two-loop arch for the corners. However, if this option is chosen, then every row must feature a two-loop arch. Follow along with our step-by-step instructions to create your own cozy and beautiful granny square blanket.

Supplies and Tools:
To make a warm blanket, select thick woolen yarn. The example uses Alize Lanagold yarn, which is thick enough to use with a 4.5 hook.

Abbreviations:
Ch – chain stitch
Sc – single crochet
Dc – double crochet

Begin knitting the motif from the center using an Magic ring, also known as a sliding ring. Wrap the working thread around the index finger away from you, insert the hook into the ring formed, pick up the working thread, and knit a half-double crochet. Tighten the ring and start with the first row.
